About SunDog

SunDog Labradors proudly owned and operated by Daren Reiter and Kristen Reiter, DVM.  Kris is a small animal veterinarian practicing in Mount Vernon and Blaine, WA.  She has been showing dogs since the age of fifteen, competing in the 4-H program as well as AKC and Open events with several different breeds, including Golden Retrievers, Borzoi, and Labradors.  She has found her passion in the Labrador breed and believes that you will never find a dog more loyal, trustworthy, easy to train, and kind at heart.

SunDog is not a large-scale production kennel, but for what it lacks in size, it makes up in quality.  Our goal is to produce Labradors that have excellent natural working ability with a high degree of trainability, that meet the breed standard for appearance and are physically sound and mentally stable.  Here at SunDog, we prefer to focus on one or two responsibly planned litters between two carefully selected, qualified individuals; therefore, our production of puppies is limited to one or two litters a year.  It is our firm belief that genetic health clearances and temperament soundness are of the utmost importance.  All SunDog breeding stock has been evaluated by board-certified veterinary specialists to verify that their hips, elbows, hearts, and eyes are clear of genetic defects.  Although this cannot guarantee that no SunDog Labrador will be free of such abnormalities, it greatly reduces the chances that undesirable genetic disease will be propagated though our lines.  It is through the implementation of our higher standards that we hope to produce high quality individuals that are equally suited for life as a competitive show dog, passionate hunter, and of course, a beloved family companion.
